REAP Clients Receive $1,000 Cash Awards

In April, REAP provided $1,000 cash equity awards to nine women micro entrepreneurs in Nebraska to help them grow and develop their businesses. REAP was one of only eight Local Partners chosen throughout the country to participate in the program.

The cash awards come from the Women and CompanyÒ Microenterprise Boost Program, with funds provided by the Citigroup Foundation. Women and CompanyÒ, a division of Citigroup that provides access to financial education and resources for women, is working with the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) to implement and promote the program.

“Women and CompanyÒ is proud to participate in this program because we believe all women should have the opportunity to achieve their financial goals,” said Lisa Caputo, President and CEO, Women and CompanyÒ. “More and more women are finding they can begin to achieve financial independence by starting their own businesses, and these grants can have a practical and immediate impact as they strive to grow these businesses.”

Nebraska recipients were asked to submit an application to REAP. The awards could be used for essential business development activities such as marketing, technology purchases, website development, inventory, or professional services.

Recipients will also receive technical training and assistance on growing their business and maximizing their equity award. Glennis McClure, REAP Women’s Business Center Director, will visit the award recipients along with the REAP Business Specialist in their area.

REAP clients receiving $1000 awards include:

  • Diane Goodier, Halsey Stockade Inn, Halsey, Nebraska (see Success Story in this issue)
  • Linda Goodman, Lynn’s Upholstery, Naper, Nebraska
  • Pat Coldiron, Liberty House B & B, Antiques and Gifts, Seward, Nebraska
