SBA Regulatory Chief Hears Testimony

Violating federal rules is wrong. But so are excessive federal fines and penalties against small businesses. SBA National Ombudsman Michael Barrera was in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 30, 2005 for a Regulatory Enforcement Fairness meeting at Southeast Community College.

Small business owners who testified during the hearing were required to register in advance. Testimony was admitted in writing or orally. Additional information about the ombudsman is available on the Internet at www.sba.gov/ombudsman

Business Plan Basics Course Completed

The Business Plan Basics Course was offered in Seward during January and February. Seven businesses participated from Seward and the surrounding area. The majority of businesses participating were service, but one retail store and one retail/service combination participated. Included were start-up businesses as well as established businesses.

The roundtable group will now meet on a monthly basis and continue enhancing their business management skills through speakers and networking. The Seward group is looking forward to co-hosting Dave Buchholz of David & Associates from Hastings in April. Buchholz will present a seminar on “How to Get Big Results from a Small Advertising Budget.”
