South Sioux Minority-Owned Group Forms
New REAP Rural Business Roundtable Latino Business Association elects officers.

After REAP did a Spanish-version of NxLevel Basic Business Plan Training in South Sioux in July, participants asked for continued training. REAP Northeast Business Specialist Karen Linnenbrink assisted the group to help coordinate those efforts.

A meeting was held in August, open to all minority small business owners. Those thinking of starting a business were also invited. The meeting was well attended, and many expressed the value of continuing this group. Topics of interest were discussed, as well as nominations for officer positions.

At the September meeting, the group decided on a name, elected officers, and determined the training topic for next month. An article ran in Mundo Latino newspaper to continue to attract and educate potential new members.

The new group is called the REAP Rural Business Roundtable of Asociación de Comercio Latino (Latino Business Association). Officers include:
  • Abril Garcia – Chair

  • Adriana Dungan - Co-Chair

  • Ozziel Loera - Treasurer/Secretary

  • Martha Martinez – Public Relations

Expect to be hearing more about this new Roundtable group in the coming months and in future newsletters.
