Nebraska Rural Institute Coming Soon
"Like Lewis & Clark:
Explore Your Opportunities" will be the theme for the
8th Annual Nebraska Rural Institute at the Marina Inn in
South Sioux City on September 16-18.
The Nebraska Development Network – Northeast Region will
be the host for the 2003 Rural Institute. The conference
will feature educational workshops and tours for
economic and community developers, local government
officials, Cooperative Extension educators, volunteers
and other rural community leaders, and anyone with an
interest in rural development.
This year’s agenda includes a number of dynamic sessions
focusing on entrepreneurship and diversity. On Tuesday,
September 16, a diversity mobile workshop will take
participants to minority-owned businesses in South Sioux
City and then to the Winnebago Indian Reservation.
A mobile workshop on Wednesday will travel to
communities in the northeast looking at their
development efforts, and a second mobile workshop will
visit large and small businesses.
On-site sessions include consumer demographics and
market strategies, reaching new markets through
collaborative lending, and a business owner panel. To
