Mind Your Own Business Youth
In December, 24 students from Mrs. Hahnís Introduction
to Business course at Auburn High School were active in
REAPís youth workshop called Mind Your Own Business.
The workshop was incorporated into the classís regular
time plus part of home-room time for the students.
The class was divided into six groups, and each groupís
assignment was to create a business. They worked on the
business name, logo, image, customer relations,
personnel issues, and marketing ideas. The purpose was
to get the students thinking about the possibility and
positives or negatives of being an entrepreneur.
Monica Braun and Glennis McClure, SE Nebraska Business
Specialists for REAP, led the workshop. Both felt that
it was time well spent with the students in Auburn.
Evaluation comments from the students showed that they
enjoyed the workshop and learned something about
business ownership from the experience.

meeting of the South Platte United Chamber of Commerce
meeting in Holdrege.

assistance to them in providing both technical
assistance and small business loans for their
enterprises. Two other area businesses were also
featured on the Chamber panel.
